I woke up to the sound of creaking floorboards in my room at the old hotel. I rubbed my eyes and glanced around, but the room was dark, and I couldn't see anything. Suddenly, I heard a whisper in my ear that said, "Welcome to the hotel, I hope you enjoy your stay." I bolted upright in bed, but nobody was there. I shrugged it off as my imagination and tried to go back to sleep, but then I heard footsteps outside my room. They were slow and deliberate, as if someone was dragging their feet. I got out of bed and opened the door, but there was nobody in the hallway. I felt a cold breeze, and I shuddered. The air in the hallway was damp and musty, and it smelled like mildew. I decided to go downstairs to get a drink of water, but when I stepped into the elevator, it started to shake and jolt. I felt like I was going to fall through the floor. I hit the emergency stop button and waited for the elevator to come to a stop. When the doors finally opened, I was on a floor that I didn't recognize. It was dark and the walls were covered in peeling wallpaper. The carpet was stained and looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in years. I walked down the hallway, and I heard strange noises coming from the rooms. It sounded like someone was crying, and I could hear muffled screams. I tried to find the stairs, but the hallway seemed to go on forever. Finally, I found a staircase, and I ran down it as fast as I could. But when I reached the lobby, it was empty. The front desk was abandoned, and the doors were locked. I turned around and saw a figure at the end of the hallway. It was a woman in a white dress, and her eyes were glowing red. She started to walk towards me, and I screamed. That's when I woke up in my own bed, covered in sweat. It was just a nightmare, but it felt so real. I never went back to that hotel again.
